According to the Annual State of Data Quality Survey, 2023, more than half of the respondents reported that 25% or more of revenue was impacted due to data quality issues. Records with incorrect details populated in the ERP can lead to considerable issues and losses. For example, missing data, duplicate records, and errors result in significant rework leading to delays, losses in revenue, and cashflow postponement.

Some organizations might not realize the direct correlation between poor data quality and additional operational costs due to issues resulting from poor data in their business systems. According to a report by Gartner, organizations are losing an average of $15 million per year. (check for consistency in this and the next para)

We understand the challenges our customers face in their day-to-day operations and to help them improve their data quality, we have built a no-code embedded solution to improve your data quality in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. This functionality is part of the Master Data Management Solution.

To help our prospects assess their data in the ERP and test the functionality before investing in our Master Data Management Solution for D365 F&SCM, we have launched a free trial.

Benefits of the Free Data Quality Trial

We have developed a pre-configured data quality template that will allow you to check the quality of the customer records in your ERP system. The full version of the data quality and validation module of the Master Data Management Solution will be available for you to explore with the free Data Quality Trial. We share some of the benefits that you can avail with the trial below.

1. Spot duplicate data

Our solution allows you to assess existing customer data and weed out duplicates. You can also add policies to improve your data quality. For example, you might be importing data from your customer relationship management (CRM) system into Dynamics 365 without knowing that you have the record of the same customer already in the ERP system with a spelling error. Duplicate data also affects reporting and analytics. If your organization is looking to adopt artificial intelligence for example, if you use duplicate data in training, then your AI results will also be negatively impacted.

To avoid having multiple duplicate records that can cause delays and problems in servicing your customers, you can use our free template to run a duplicate check on customer records. You can also configure it to check other records as well.

2. Improve data accuracy

Inaccurate data also causes errors, an example would be an incorrect email address or phone number. In a highly regulated industry such as healthcare, having incorrect emergency contact details could make it difficult to provide care in the time of need. Likewise, in another scenario, if you had to share very important information with a customer over email about a delivery and those details were incorrect, unless you have an EDI Solution to communicate delivery updates, you would have an unhappy customer. But even in the case of EDI messages, if the data is incorrect, those messages can be rejected by your trading partners.

If you do not have data management and governance processes to manage quality over the data lifecycle as it moves through several systems and interacts with various business departments, you are going to face issues. STAEDEAN’s Master Data Management Solution for D365 F&SCM can help you manage data across departments within the ERP and use Dynamics 365 ERP as the master data system. Using our data quality functionality, you can add data quality rules such as data patterns to reduce typing errors. You can also use our data quality functionality to connect with external (paid) web services to validate data such as email addresses and phone numbers to improve accuracy of your ERP data.

3. Inconsistent data

For some data you need to follow a set format, but if you do not have any pre-configured conditions for the data entry in Dynamics 365, there will be inconsistencies in your ERP system. An example would be the credit rating field in a customer record. If there is no set range or limit for the credit rating field, one employee could enter good for a low range and another employee set it as bad for the same range. This can be problematic while reporting or trying to derive analytics from the data and also cause issues when dealing with customer finances.

Having a clear set range for such fields using automated data quality rules can ensure data consistency. Using our data quality solution, you can set Configurable Lookups that allow you to set a range and value for the credit rating field ensuring employees need to choose one of the pre-set values.

Some more features of our data quality solution that you can explore with the free data quality trial are listed below.
