Several months ago, we released our mobile Product Engineering App for Microsoft Dynamics AX. Following requests from many customers and partners, it is now also available for Microsoft Dynamics NAV as Engineering Change Requests for Industrial Equipment Manufacturing version 2013 R2. You can use the app to manage engineering change requests (ECR) on your preferred mobile device while you are in the field. With this app, we are taking a step toward full-fledged engineering change management in your NAV environment. You can download it for free from the Windows Store.

We launched the Product Engineering App at Innovations 2013. This app, which connects with the ERP system through the Microsoft Azure bus, allows users to create and access ECRs and related metrics on a Windows 8 tablet or smart phone. The app is location-aware and automatically inserts coordinates from your device’s GPS utility. You can also take photographs of equipment or components, and attach them to ECRs, use email to forward ECRs, and collaborate with colleagues through Yammer. Graphs indicate which products are most affected by ECRs and what their severity is, and you can see how ECRs are trending. You can also reach the product catalogue for reference.

IEM ECR 1

On the ERP side and in the context of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you now have a role center that shows the status of individual ECRs. ECR managers and coordinators can quickly review in-progress ECRs and move them forward.

IEM ECR 2

On the ECR card, users can note all the information required to request the change of an item or BOM. Processing the ECR is controlled by a workflow that includes approval and notification functionality.

IEM ECR 3

You can download the app for free from the Windows Store.
