STAEDEAN expands its manufacturing solution portfolio with ECM+, a solution that helps manufacturers manage and resolve the operational impact of engineering changes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, October 2026 — STAEDEAN has launched ECM+ (Engineering Change Management) for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management.
Engineering changes are an essential part of manufacturing, helping organizations improve product designs, address quality issues, and respond to changing business requirements. However, when an engineering change is released, its impact often extends beyond engineering. Open sales orders, production orders, purchase orders, and shop floor jobs may still rely on the previous product version, requiring teams to identify affected transactions and determine the appropriate corrective actions.
To address this challenge, STAEDEAN introduces ECM+ for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (F&SCM). Building on the existing Engineering Change Management capabilities in Dynamics 365, ECM+ helps manufacturers identify affected transactions, assess inventory and supply implications, and execute corrective actions directly within the ERP.
What is ECM+?
ECM+ helps manufacturers manage the operational impact of released engineering changes. While standard Engineering Change Management capabilities help organizations control product revisions and identify affected transactions, resolving these impacts can still require manual intervention across multiple operational areas.
ECM+ brings this process together in one workspace, enabling users to review impacted transactions, understand the implications of a change, and take corrective action without switching between different screens or relying on spreadsheets.
The solution includes the following key features:
|
Centralized impact workspace View affected sales orders, production orders, kanban jobs, and purchase orders in one place. Users can track the status of impacted transactions and navigate directly to the relevant Dynamics 365 records. |
|
Guided corrective actions Resolve affected transactions directly from the impact workspace. Depending on the transaction type, users can split or replace sales order lines, update production orders, reschedule kanban jobs, and amend or cancel purchase orders. |
|
Consolidated inventory and supply information Review on-hand inventory, reserved quantities, net available stock, incoming supply, outgoing demand, and coverage gaps at item and warehouse level. This helps planners assess the impact of replacing an existing product version. |
|
AI-powered impact analysis The ECM+ AI Impact Agent enables users to ask questions about an engineering change in natural language. It provides a summary of affected transactions and a severity rating based on configured business rules, explaining the reasoning behind its assessment. Engineers can also access these insights outside Dynamics 365, without needing to work directly in the ERP. |
|
Action tracking and traceability Track the last action taken on each impacted transaction, helping teams identify outstanding work and maintain visibility into how an engineering change has been handled. |
What are the benefits of ECM+?
Managing the operational impact of engineering changes manually can consume valuable time and increase the risk of errors. Transactions may continue using outdated product versions, inventory requirements may change, and purchasing or production activities may no longer align with the latest design.
ECM+ helps manufacturers address these challenges by connecting engineering changes with the operational processes they affect.
Reduce manual work
By bringing impacted transactions and corrective actions together in one workspace, ECM+ reduces the need to investigate multiple screens, maintain spreadsheets, and manually update individual records.
Prevent operational errors
Identifying affected orders and resolving them directly within Dynamics 365 helps reduce the risk of producing outdated product versions, purchasing obsolete components, or missing important customer commitments.
Improve inventory and supply visibility
Access to consolidated inventory and supply information helps planners understand whether existing stock can support current demand and identify potential coverage gaps when transitioning to a new product version.
Support informed decision-making
The solution provides visibility into the operational implications of engineering changes, including relevant production cost differences and material shortages. The AI Impact Agent further supports this process by explaining the scope and severity of a change based on the organization's configured rules.
Maintain control and traceability
ECM+ operates within the existing Dynamics 365 environment and respects established user security permissions. Actions remain under the control of authorized users, while the solution provides visibility into the work completed on impacted transactions.
How does ECM+ complement existing Engineering Change Management capabilities?
ECM+ extends the Engineering Change Management functionality already available in Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. It does not replace the existing module; instead, it addresses the operational work that follows the release of an engineering change.
The solution is delivered as a standard Dynamics 365 package. The AI Impact Agent is built using Microsoft Copilot Studio and provides read-only analysis of information from the ERP. It does not modify records or execute actions on behalf of users, ensuring that business decisions and approvals remain with the appropriate teams.
The current release focuses on discrete manufacturing and supports corrective actions across sales orders, production orders, kanban jobs, purchase orders, and planned supply. Additional capabilities, including broader document coverage, what-if scenario analysis, and process manufacturing support, are planned for future releases.
Expore ECM+
ECM+ helps manufacturers manage the operational impact of engineering changes in Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. By combining impact visibility, guided corrective actions, and AI-powered analysis, it helps reduce manual work and maintain control over affected transactions.
